Ron Garan is an astronaut, test pilot, and author whose work explores the intersection of space, perspective, and humanity’s future.
During his career with NASA and the U.S. Air Force, Ron spent 178 days in space and traveled more than 71 million miles in 2,842 orbits of Earth. He flew aboard both the Space Shuttle and the Russian Soyuz spacecraft and conducted four spacewalks. Earlier in his career he served as a combat fighter pilot, Instructor Pilot at the U.S. Air Force Weapons School (the Air Force’s equivalent of Top Gun), and graduated from the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School.
Ron is the author of the critically acclaimed books The Orbital Perspective: Lessons in Seeing the Big Picture from a Journey of 71 Million Miles, Floating in Darkness: A Journey of Evolution, and the children’s book Railroad to the Moon.
