Averil Reisman loves to write steamy American-set historical romances of the Gilded Age and Gay Nineties--the late Victorian period during which America's industrial age aristocracy lived like lords and ladies of England. Ever since the PBS series, America's Castles, which focused on the fabulous houses built during this era, she's been fascinated by the life style of America's industrial age barons.

A closet feminist, she admires the brave women of this era who fought for equal voting rights, and who often broke the mold to bring about social change and women's equality. Writing about strong women, and the alpha males who love them, is one of her greatest passions . . . besides her loving husband.

She's always been a writer, having graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism with a JD degree, and spent the bulk of her career writing things other people had assigned. It wasn't until her husband pushed her into trying her hand at writing romance that she discovered the true joy of writing fiction. She now writes what she likes to read--sensual love stories about characters who spark her imagination.

Now empty nesters, Averil and her husband live in a far northwest suburb of Chicago, where the corn still grows down the road and farm stands are plentiful. On a nice day, you might catch her out tending her flowers. But on a nasty day, she can be found indoors at her computer, or reading the next book club selection, or playing Mah Jongg or Canasta.
