Lisa A. Kramer (MFA, PhD) has spent her life learning, creating, and exploring the world through theatre, writing, education, travel, and collaboration. Throughout her career teaching in colleges and universities she has been a mentor and advocate for women and minorities, encouraging them to use their creative abilities to make change in the world. She uses her voice to fight against the injustices found in a society that only values certain voices. Her award-winning books meet at the intersection of creative advocacy and social justice.
Her co-authored book, Creative Collaborations through Inclusive Theatre and Community Based Learning won the Distinguished Book Award from the American Alliance for Theater Education. Her first novel, originally published in 2014, was a finalist for the 2015 Sarton Women’s Literary Award. The newer version includes updated chapters and an updated author’s note reflecting on the relevance to our times.
As a recovering academic, Lisa strives to find relatable and creative ways to share knowledge and understanding with broader audiences both in person and virtually. Over the past few years, she has chosen to pursue projects that entertain as well as inspire discussion about the complex issues plaguing society today. She’s currently working on a book series, where each book stands alone but exists in a world of Lisa’s making. She is also developing content for YouTube, and is having a blast.
