Robert Macleod was born in Vancouver in 1932. He has practiced professionally as an architect in Canada and England and has taught and lectured at a number of colleges and universities in these countries. Between 1969 and 1974 he was Director of the Institute of Advance Architectural studies at York, and from 1972 to 1974 was Professor of Architecture there before taking up the appointment of Director and Professor of the School of Architecture at the University of British Colombia, where he remained until 1980. He now lives in Bristol where he was Professor of Architecture at Bristol University until 1982. Professor Macleod holds a number of positions on various boards and committees of the Royal Institute of British Architects and has written several articles and books.
