Cameron Lee DeCessna was born in Cumberland, Maryland in 1951 where he lived as an only child with his parents in a semi-rural location near Cumberland. He holds fond memories of that region and often uses those memories for the settings of his books. At age eight, his family moved to Miami, Florida where he attended grade school and junior high. When he was fourteen, the family moved northward to West Hollywood, Florida where he attended McArthur High School and graduated in 1969.
He attended college first at Broward Community College (now Broward State College) and later at the University of Florida, in Gainesville, Florida where he graduated in 1976 with a B.S. in Earth/Space Science Education. For most of his working life, he taught astronomy, geology, and other sciences in public schools, and community colleges and as a museum curator in several venues. Upon retirement, he turned his attention to writing stories that had been rattling about in his mind for many years, waiting to be shared. He now lives in a small town in North Central Florida where he writes, maintains his home, and cares for his three tuxedo cats, Mimsy, Bandit, and Sylvester. Cameron, who is gay, is currently single but now openly celebrates the freedom to openly proclaim his sexual orientation. His books feature gay protagonists and issues. He enjoys several hobbies: model railroading, gem cutting, and mineral collecting. Cameron is also an accomplished organist.
