Née à Montréal en 1988, Émilie Turmel a grandi à Québec et vit maintenant à Moncton, au Nouveau-Brunswick, où elle assure la direction générale du Festival Frye.
Poète et performeuse, elle a participé à plusieurs festivals au Canada et à l’international. Quelques-uns de ses textes ont été traduits en anglais ou en espagnol et sont parus au Canada, en Colombie, en Espagne et en France. Elle est finaliste au Prix Émile-Nelligan (Québec) et lauréate du Prix René-Leynaud (France) pour son premier livre, Casse-gueules, publié aux éditions Poètes de brousse en 2018. Son second livre, intitulé Vanités, est paru en septembre 2020 sous la même enseigne et s'est mérité le Prix Louise-Labé (France).

Émilie Turmel was born in Montreal in 1988 and grew up in Quebec City. She moved to New Brunswick in 2018 to take the helm of the Frye Festival as its Executive Director.
A poet and performer, Émilie Turmel has attended several festivals in Canada and abroad. Some of her texts have been translated into English and Spanish and published in Canada, Columbia, Spain, and France. She was a finalist for the Prix Émile-Nelligan (Québec) and won the Prix René-Leynaud (France) for her first poetry collection, Casse-gueules, published by Poètes de brousse in 2018.
