Chen Nian is a high school girl who suffers from stuttering. She is preparing for university exams at a cram school. When the police begins to investigate the suicide of her classmate, Chen Nian, who had inadvertently witnessed a bullying scene, decides to stay silent in fear of getting bullied herself. However, Chen Nian ultimately manages to gather her courage and expose the bullies for who they are, thus ending up as their new target. To protect herself from the wrath of the bullies, Chen Nian attempts to seek protection from various sources to no avail. Finally, Chen Nian is reduced to seeking protection from the tough street kid Bei Ye, who has a soft spot for Chen Nian.
