In 2015, an independent publisher from Independence, Oregon, became one of the only publishing companies in the world to take on Kamila Shamsie’s challenge to make 2018 the Year of Publishing Women.

In addition to publishing eight novels by seven women in one year, Not a Pipe Publishing also published short stories once a week online in an effort to further showcase women’s writing. This anthology is comprised of stories selected from that collection.

Each of these stories are as diverse and unique as the authors who wrote them. The stories span many different  genres and writing styles. While some of these authors are also novelists, short stories are their own art form, and many authors wrote their stories to experiment in a different genre or to play around with an idea.

More than anything, they wanted to contribute to The Year of Publishing Women, to stand in solidarity with their fellow talented authors and prove women belong in any serious exploration of great literature.
