During a military exercise on the Pacific skies, a fighter pilot of the Italian Navy loses contact with the aircraft carrier Cavour and finds himself forced to make an emergency landing on a mysterious deserted island not marked on maps. Trying to survive while waiting for rescue, his nights are tormented by terrifying nightmares in which he sees slimy tentacles that crush him mercilessly. Exploring the island, he locates the bodies of members of a scientific expedition that arrived to investigate the "bloop", a mysterious sound coming from the ocean depths. In the diaries of the researchers he reads of hallucinations and nightmares similar to his, but there is one mysterious word that recurs in all files: Cthulhu. It will not be long before the island awakens something that arrived on Earth billions of years ago... something waiting to claim its domain on the Universe.
