Rachel was happy to live in the shadow of her famous father. But when she visits him in Omaha during summer vacation and learns of his deteriorating health, the teen starts to want something more: to get to know her dad before it’s too late. To do so, she takes a job at a local indie movie theater to study the art that he loves, working alongside new friend and fellow outcast Claudia. While there, Rachel ponders her father’s emotionally distant exterior, his habitual womanizing, and the disintegration of her parents’ marriage. Soon the young woman is seeing the world in a new light, one that will propel her away from the passivity of childhood and toward the fragile, active role of adult.
