A novel about a young peasant Đuka Begović who, after spending years in prison, becomes estranged from the local society. He is a deranged and violent character who wants to live an unrestrained life, indulging in alcohol, extravagance and erotic pleasures. Đuka Begović is living his life as an eruption of passion. He advocates the truth at any price, seeking satisfaction in all that surrounds him, and is affirming physicality as the most complete contact with the ineffable.
