After their victory in the skies over Dar Goranth, Fieran and his newly unified squadron travel to Fort Defense to reinforce the squadrons defending the Escarlish-Mongavarian border.

Once there, they discover a war harsher than any they have yet experienced. The constant dogfights are exhausting, the bombings are frequent, and the death toll is high. Even two warriors with the magic of the ancient kings might not be enough.
