The second series of Mass Extinction Event picks up just hours after the first, with Elizabeth mourning her brother while Thomas faces a race against time to save Joe.

In New York, Elizabeth decides that she needs to find a safer place. She starts her long walk west, but soon she finds that there are a few survivors in the area, and some of them have dark secrets. Eventually, she ends up at a mysterious farmhouse, where she meets a man named Toad.

In Oklahoma, meanwhile, Thomas desperately tries to find someone who can help Joe. When he's forced to make the most difficult decision of all, however, he ends up in a dangerous situation, at the mercy of an old man who believes that a dark judgment is being visited upon mankind.
