The Great Turtle and the White Bird is a short fable for readers of all ages where two unlikely heroes from different worlds come together after all the land is covered by a vast flood. It leaves behind no place for turtles or birds to lay their eggs or build a nest. The old turtle asks for help. One lone bird answers. They joined to create an island built from whatever the bird could gather and place on the old turtle’s back. This short story was written while researching and drafting my historical novel Storykeeper.
