The tribute here is to Hans Christian Andersen and three of his most popular stories, including the search for a genuine princess, an emperor who is foolish as well as ridiculous, and a duckling that discovers there’s more than meets the eye in the real world. They are joined by a little girl who takes advantage of three bears, first put into print by Robert Southey in 1837, and the tale of a mysterious piper which has seen many variations, Robert Browning’s in particular, on the events of June 26, 1284, when the children of a small hamlet suddenly disappeared.
