An act of kindness turned down leaves a bad taste in my mouth before I can even get passed a first-name basis. My next-door neighbor, Leon, is a jerk. All it takes is one bad first impression to set my feelings straight. He’s a tattoo-covered motorcyclist who hates the world and everyone in it–including me. There’s no reason my heart should pound every time I catch his eyes in my direction. Though, I can’t ignore the way his permanent scowl softens whenever I’m around.
