Black clouds mass in the lightning-streaked sky as the Per Se sails from the port of Grundartangi in Iceland, bound for Surinam. On board: nine crew members who all seem to have brought dark secrets in their luggage. Some have heard that the freight company is intending to fire them, and are determined to take matters in hand as soon as the weather clears. Mutiny is not far away, and the atmosphere grows heavy with hostility and suspicion. When communications are cut off by a member of the crew - but which one? - little by little, madness takes control of the ship, as it drifts into ever colder and more inhospitable waters.
