Initially, the name "Havank" was used as a pseudonym by Dutch writer Hans van der Kallen.
After his death in 1964, his oeuvre was continued by Pieter Terpstra, who used the "Havank+Terpstra" pseudonym until 1985.
In 2008, at their 140th birthday, Dutch publisher Bruna asked the writer Tomas Ross to write a novel in honour of Hans van der Kallen. He then used the pseudonym "Havank Ross".
